Project Overview

The Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport Curbside Canopies project delivered new covered passenger infrastructure at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, improving the arrival and departure experience for travelers using rideshare services. The $5,500,000 project included new canopies covering the curbside pickup area, connected to covered walkways leading to the main terminal curb. The project also encompassed the rehabilitation of existing covered walkways serving long-term parking, employee parking, and car rental return areas, with sandblasting, repainting, and new roofing to match the new canopy aesthetic. The client engaged PRESWERX to develop renderings and animations in support of the competitive pursuit.

Client Challenges

The client faced a pursuit where visual coherence and passenger experience had to carry a modest-scale infrastructure scope:

  • New canopy construction had to visually integrate with rehabilitated existing structures, requiring imagery that showed both as a unified airport environment.

  • An airport audience expected imagery that communicated design quality and passenger-facing function, not just construction scope.

  • A $5.5M scope required visuals that made a purposeful, polished case to an airport authority.

Together, these called for renderings and animations that elevated functional infrastructure into a compelling passenger experience story.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX produced renderings and animations for the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport Curbside Canopies project at Eglin Air Force Base. The renderings depicted the new rideshare curbside canopies and their connection to the main terminal walkways, capturing the material palette and architectural character that would define the passenger experience at the curb. The rehabilitated existing walkways were also represented, showing how the sandblasted, repainted, and re-roofed structures would align visually with the new construction to create a consistent, cohesive airport arrival environment. The animations brought the completed curbside environment to life, giving the airport authority a clear view of the finished project.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX focused on the project's defining design challenge: making new construction and rehabilitated existing structures read as one unified passenger environment.

  • Developed renderings of the new canopies in full site context, capturing material quality and the passenger-facing character of the finished structures.

  • Represented rehabilitated walkways alongside new construction to show how the full curbside environment would read as one cohesive airport amenity.

  • Produced animations that gave the airport authority a dynamic view of the completed curbside passenger experience.

The result was a visual package that told a coherent improvement story across both new and rehabilitated elements of the project.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a rendering and animation package that gave the project a visual presence well beyond its scope.

  • Renderings captured the new curbside canopies with the material detail and passenger-experience quality the airport authority needed to evaluate the design.

  • Rehabilitated walkway visuals completed the picture, showing how new and existing structures would unify into a consistent curbside environment.

  • Animations gave the airport a dynamic, experiential view of the completed project that static drawings could not provide.

The client entered the selection with imagery that made a purposeful infrastructure investment look and feel worth building.
