Project Overview

The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio issued a procurement for a new Central Utility Plant on the north portion of the Greehey Campus. The three-story, 12,308 square foot building was designed to serve as the infrastructure backbone for a growing medical campus, providing utility support for an active inpatient hospital, the Brain Health Building, a new research building, a Vivarium expansion, and additional future phases, all within a $24,500,000 budget. The client engaged PRESWERX to develop a presentation and provide coaching in support of the competitive pursuit.

Client Challenges

The client faced a pursuit where the building's footprint was modest but its strategic importance was significant:

  • The CUP would power multiple planned campus expansions, requiring the presentation to connect immediate construction scope to long-term infrastructure strategy.

  • Building critical utilities alongside an active inpatient hospital required demonstrating the team's ability to manage risk without disrupting campus operations.

  • A university owner expected a team that could speak to campus utility systems with technical depth, not just construction timelines.

All three required a presentation that could turn technical infrastructure complexity into a clear, strategic story.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed a presentation and provided coaching for the client's pursuit of the UT Health North Campus Central Utility Plant. The presentation was structured to communicate the dual nature of the scope: the technical demands of building a new utility plant to serve an active and expanding medical campus, and the strategic role the facility would play in enabling years of future growth across the Greehey Campus. The structure helped evaluators understand how the team would manage construction complexity alongside ongoing hospital operations. PRESWERX then worked directly with the team through coaching to sharpen delivery and build presentation confidence.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX structured the presentation to work on two levels: the construction approach and the long-term strategic value of the infrastructure.

  • Built a narrative that connected the CUP's immediate construction scope to its role as the Greehey Campus utility backbone.

  • Developed content addressing the active-campus risk environment and the team's plan to protect ongoing hospital operations throughout construction.

  • Provided coaching that built the technical authority and composure a university infrastructure pursuit demands.

The result was a presentation that positioned the team as both technically capable and strategically aligned with the owner's campus goals.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a presentation and coaching program that gave the client a credible, well-structured case for a demanding university infrastructure pursuit.

  • The presentation communicated both the CUP's construction scope and its strategic role as the Greehey Campus utility backbone.

  • Active-campus risk content showed the team's plan to protect ongoing hospital and research operations throughout construction.

  • Coaching built the technical authority and composure needed to perform confidently in a live evaluation setting.

The client entered the selection process fully prepared to present both the build and the long-term strategy behind it.
