Project Overview

The Woodsworth College Academic Building and Bloor-Devonshire Utilities Upgrades was a new educational facility proposed for the University of Toronto campus at 117 to 119 St. George Street in Toronto, Ontario. The project encompassed approximately 5,586 gross square meters across six stories above grade, a mechanical penthouse, and two basement levels. The program required the demolition of Kruger Hall and a full renovation of the Margaret Fletcher wing, while preserving a heritage-designated portion of the college and expanding the Kruger Hall Commons as a student life and academic hub. To build a compelling pursuit package for this technically complex, heritage-sensitive institutional project, the client engaged PRESWERX to deliver proposal development, presentation creation, and presentation coaching.

Client Challenges

The client faced a layered pursuit in a competitive institutional market. Translating a technically dense, heritage-sensitive academic program into a clear and compelling story required a careful, deliberate approach:

  • The project scope was intricate, spanning new construction, demolition, and heritage renovation across a dense urban campus site, making it difficult to present as a unified narrative.

  • The heritage designation introduced design constraints that needed to be framed as strengths and points of differentiation rather than obstacles.

  • The client needed a presentation calibrated to a non-construction audience, one that communicated technical depth without losing the owner in detail.

  • Interview readiness required structured coaching so each team member could deliver a confident, aligned performance under live evaluation conditions.

Together, these challenges called for a pursuit strategy that was technically grounded, visually coherent, and performance-ready from the first page to the final spoken word.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX produced a complete pursuit package for the client's bid on the Woodsworth College Academic Building. The team developed a comprehensive proposal document that organized the project's layered scope, including new construction, heritage renovation, and central utility infrastructure, into a coherent and persuasive submission. PRESWERX also designed a tailored interview presentation that translated the program's technical complexity into clear visual storytelling built around the University of Toronto's evaluation priorities. To ensure the client's team was fully prepared for the live selection interview, PRESWERX conducted structured presentation coaching sessions that sharpened messaging, refined delivery, and rehearsed each presenter on anticipated questions from the owner's panel.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX approached this pursuit as a storytelling challenge where technical complexity needed to become a clear, confident case for the right team on a sensitive institutional project.

  • The proposal was structured to lead with the client's understanding of heritage context, establishing credibility before addressing schedule, logistics, and construction methodology.

  • The presentation was built around the owner's evaluation criteria, with visual sequencing that prioritized community impact, design sensitivity, and the client's institutional experience.

  • Coaching sessions rehearsed the team on key questions, presentation pacing, and the interpersonal dynamics of a live panel interview, ensuring every presenter was aligned and prepared.

The result was a pursuit package where the written proposal, the presentation visuals, and the team's spoken performance told a single, unified story.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete, interview-ready pursuit package calibrated to the standards of a high-profile institutional procurement at one of Canada's leading universities.

  • The proposal gave the client a polished, well-organized submission that clearly articulated their approach to the project's unique heritage requirements and technical complexity.

  • The presentation equipped the team with a visually compelling narrative that translated a multi-scope, campus-integrated project into a coherent case for selection.

  • The coaching sessions left every presenter confident, prepared, and unified in their messaging before stepping into the interview room.

Going into selection, the client's team had the materials, the preparation, and the presence to make a strong case for this landmark University of Toronto project.
