Project Overview

Wilmington International Airport was the site of a significant infrastructure upgrade serving the greater Wilmington, NC region. The New Hanover County Airport Authority sought a Construction Manager at Risk for a $50 million program encompassing improvements to the airport access roadways, terminal curbside, terminal curbside canopies, and terminal parking. The scale and public visibility of the work required a pursuit team that could frame the full scope as a single, cohesive story. PRESWERX partnered with the client to develop the complete pursuit package, including a written proposal, presentation materials, renderings, animations, films, and hands-on presentation coaching.

Client Challenges

The client faced a competitive, high-profile pursuit with several distinct communication demands:

  • The scope spanned roadway infrastructure, terminal access, canopies, and parking, requiring a single cohesive narrative across both the written proposal and the live selection presentation.

  • The project was publicly funded and competitively bid, requiring the client's team to stand out among experienced CMR firms vying for a marquee infrastructure contract.

  • The live interview demanded polished, confident delivery from a team more accustomed to managing construction than to presenting in a competitive selection environment.

Together, these demands called for a full-service pursuit partner capable of handling the written story, the visual package, and the presentation itself.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed a comprehensive pursuit package tailored to the complexity and scale of the Wilmington International Airport improvements program. The team authored a written proposal that translated the technical CMR scope into a clear, owner-focused narrative aligned with the Airport Authority's stated priorities. High-quality renderings brought the planned roadway and curbside improvements to life visually, giving selection evaluators a concrete sense of the finished project. Animated sequences and short-form films added depth and visual impact to the submission package. Hands-on presentation coaching prepared the client's team to walk into the interview with confidence and clarity.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX treated the Wilmington Airport pursuit as a unified storytelling challenge. With scope spanning roadways, canopies, curbside, and parking, the work required a consistent narrative and visual thread running from the written proposal through to the live interview.

  • The written proposal was structured around the Airport Authority's stated priorities, grounding each section in the specific site improvements and community benefit they would deliver.

  • Renderings and animated films were produced to visualize the roadway and curbside upgrades as a cohesive, finished environment rather than a collection of discrete construction tasks.

  • Presentation coaching sessions were run with the client's team to sharpen delivery, anticipate evaluator questions, and ensure the team could adapt in real time during the interview.

The result was a fully integrated pursuit package that reflected the ambition and scale of the project.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete, multi-format pursuit package calibrated to the demands of a $50 million public infrastructure competition.

  • The written proposal gave the client a structured, owner-focused narrative that addressed the full CMR scope clearly and made a persuasive case for the team's qualifications.

  • Renderings and films brought the planned airport improvements to life visually, giving evaluators a compelling picture of the client's approach to the finished environment.

  • Presentation coaching built the team's confidence and sharpened their delivery, leaving them prepared for every phase of the live selection event.

The client entered the selection process equipped with polished, professional materials and a team ready to perform at the highest level.
