Project Overview

The UT Main Building Renovation brought long-overdue attention to one of Texas's most recognized civic landmarks: the historic Tower at the University of Texas at Austin. Standing as an enduring symbol of the institution since its 1937 completion, the Tower had never received a meaningful exterior restoration. The project scope encompassed stone masonry restoration, window refurbishment, historical gilding reapplication, LED lighting upgrades, and full reconstruction of the building's signature east and west entrances. To compete for this high-profile commission, the client engaged PRESWERX to produce a full pursuit package, including proposal documents, renderings, animations, films, and a live presentation strategy.

Client Challenges

The client needed to communicate the full weight of a once-in-a-generation historic restoration to a discerning owner selection panel:

  • Translating a complex, multi-phase restoration scope into a cohesive narrative that non-technical evaluators could follow

  • Visually conveying the care and craftsmanship the project demanded before any construction began

  • Differentiating the team in a competitive field pursuing a landmark, high-visibility commission

  • Preparing the team to perform confidently and precisely in a live interview setting

Every deliverable had to match the significance of the building itself.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX delivered an integrated pursuit package calibrated to the demands of a high-profile historic restoration. The written proposal organized the client's qualifications and restoration methodology into a clear, evaluator-friendly narrative. Custom renderings visualized the restored exterior, allowing the owner to see the finished result before a single stone was touched. Animations and films translated the sequencing and craftsmanship of the work into a format that built confidence with a non-technical audience. A structured presentation carried the narrative into the live interview, supported by coaching sessions that prepared the team to deliver it with precision and authority.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX treated the pursuit as a storytelling and differentiation challenge. The goal was to give the owner a clear, compelling reason to trust the client with one of Texas's most historically significant buildings:

  • Built a unified narrative connecting the client's restoration expertise to the specific demands and historic character of the UT Tower project

  • Produced visual assets that conveyed technical command and reverence for the building's historic significance

  • Coached the presentation team to communicate with authority in a live, high-stakes selection setting

The result was a pursuit package that gave the client a clear competitive advantage heading into the final selection.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete, competition-ready pursuit package for a project of national historic significance, holding every deliverable to the standard the UT Tower demanded:

  • The proposal organized a complex, multi-phase restoration scope into a persuasive narrative that evaluators could absorb without technical expertise

  • Renderings and animations gave the owner a vivid preview of the restored Tower, building trust in the client's vision and capabilities

  • Presentation coaching sharpened the team's delivery, leaving every member prepared and confident for the live selection interview

The client entered the selection process with a cohesive story, compelling visuals, and a team ready to perform.
