Project Overview

The Hamilton Center for Education was a $47,000,000 renovation of the historic Infirmary building on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida. The project transformed the building into a home for Hamilton College faculty and scholars, with classroom and conference room space designed to support courses, faculty meetings, and student engagement. Located within the campus Historic District, the design approach was called to honor the building's historical context while creating interiors that inspire intellectual community and rigorous academic engagement. PRESWERX supported the client's pursuit by developing the proposal, renderings, and animations for the University of Florida selection process.

Client Challenges

A historic campus renovation presents a distinct pursuit challenge: the work requires communicating not just construction capability but sensitivity to context and design intent. The client faced several specific pressures:

  • Demonstrating competency in historic renovation within a campus Historic District, where design sensibility matters as much as technical qualifications

  • Visualizing interior design quality for a space meant to inspire intellectual community, before a single wall was touched

  • Differentiating the team in a competitive higher education pursuit environment

Renderings and animations were essential to making the client's vision for the space legible to a university audience.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed a pursuit proposal, architectural renderings, and animations to support the client's submission for the University of Florida's selection process. The proposal articulated the client's qualifications and approach to a historically sensitive renovation with a clearly defined academic program. The renderings visualized the transformed interior spaces, capturing the balance between historical context and a design intended to inspire scholarly engagement. Animations brought the spatial experience to life in a way still imagery alone could not achieve. Each element was tailored to communicate the project's design ambitions to a university audience evaluating both capability and vision.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX built the pursuit materials around what made this project distinct: a historically sensitive renovation with a design mandate to inspire intellectual community.

  • Developed a proposal that addressed the University's Historic District requirements and the client's approach to contextually informed design

  • Produced renderings focused on interior quality and academic character, conveying the atmosphere the program called for

  • Created animations to communicate spatial experience and design intent in a format suited to a university selection audience

The materials positioned the client as a team that understood both the building and what it needed to become.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a proposal, architectural renderings, and animations calibrated to the demands of a historic campus renovation pursuit at a major research university.

  • The proposal framed the client's qualifications and design approach within the context of the campus Historic District and the project's academic program

  • Renderings conveyed interior character and design quality for a space intended to foster scholarly engagement

  • Animations gave evaluators a spatial sense of the project before any work began

The client entered the selection with materials that made their vision for the Hamilton Center tangible and their approach credible.
