Project Overview
The Union College Engineering and Computer Science Initiative Templeton Institute was a $40 million higher education project in Schenectady, New York, commissioned by Union College. The new building was designed to serve the college's engineering and computer science programs, built to a minimum LEED Silver standard with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency and sustainability. The design considered geothermal and cogeneration systems to support the facility's thermal needs, with an analysis of its connection to Union College's existing cogeneration plant. The client engaged PRESWERX to support the pursuit with a presentation, presentation coaching, renderings, and animations.
Client Challenges
The client was pursuing a $40 million higher education project for a selective private liberal arts college with a strong institutional commitment to sustainability. The pursuit presented several distinct challenges:
Communicating a construction approach for a technically sophisticated academic building with demanding sustainability requirements, including LEED Silver standards and complex energy system integration.

Scope of Work
PRESWERX built the selection presentation and provided coaching to prepare the client's team for the Union College interview. Renderings visualized the new Templeton Institute building and its relationship to the campus environment, giving the college's review team a compelling picture of the finished facility. Animations brought the building's design and energy systems to life, communicating the sustainability vision and the integration of the facility with the college's existing campus infrastructure. Coaching prepared the team's speakers to address both the architectural scope and the technical sustainability requirements with the credibility Union College's selection process expected.
