Project Overview
The University of Florida pursued a $7.4 million renovation and repair of the building envelope at its Dental Science Building on the Gainesville campus, a project requiring careful coordination with multiple ongoing construction efforts inside the same building and strict scheduling around the College of Dentistry's active exam calendar. The scope included studies, testing, and all necessary repairs and modifications to the building envelope and infrastructure. Managing construction without disrupting an operating dental school added a layer of complexity beyond the technical work itself. The client engaged PRESWERX to develop the presentation and renderings that would support their pursuit of this University of Florida construction management contract.
Client Challenges
Winning a building envelope contract on an active university campus required the client to address challenges that were as much operational as technical:
Demonstrating a credible approach to multi-party coordination, with construction running concurrently alongside several other active projects within the same building.
Convincing a university owner that the team could protect the College of Dentistry's exam schedule and daily operations throughout construction without compromise.
Preparing for a live selection interview where the University of Florida would expect the team to speak specifically to the building's complexity and their plan to manage it.
The pursuit hinged on the team's ability to demonstrate disciplined coordination and operational sensitivity alongside their construction qualifications.
Scope of Work
PRESWERX produced renderings, animations, and a structured presentation for the client's pursuit of the Dental Science Building envelope project. Renderings depicted the building exterior and envelope repair scope in a way that gave evaluators a concrete visual reference for the work, while animations illustrated the construction approach and how the team planned to sequence activity around the building's active occupants. The presentation was organized to lead with the team's relevant envelope and university construction experience before addressing the project's specific coordination demands. PRESWERX then worked with the client's team through coaching sessions to prepare presenters for the live interview, with particular focus on the operational and scheduling questions the University of Florida was likely to probe.
