Project Overview
River Edge Behavioral Health pursued a new, purpose-built Crisis Stabilization Diagnostic Center (CSDC) in Macon, Georgia, designed specifically to serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) experiencing acute psychiatric crises. The 27,000-square-foot single-story facility encompassed 16 inpatient residential units arranged across three residential pods, along with specialized clinical spaces including sensory rooms, calming rooms, behavioral assessment rooms, a dental suite, therapy areas, a laboratory, and an outdoor therapeutic courtyard. The project carried a construction value of $12 million, with an additional 8,000-square-foot option priced for future expansion. PRESWERX supported the client's pursuit effort through proposal development, presentation design, presentation coaching, architectural renderings, and animations.
Client Challenges
Communicating the complexity and clinical intent of a highly specialized behavioral health facility required a pursuit strategy that was both precise and accessible to a broad evaluation audience:
Translating a facility with 16 distinct program components, from forensic-grade calming rooms to open nursing stations, into a coherent and compelling narrative
Visualizing a therapeutic environment that was intentionally non-threatening and trauma-informed before a single wall was built
Differentiating the client's team in a competitive pursuit for a state-contracted behavioral health facility serving a particularly vulnerable population
Preparing a presentation that conveyed deep clinical understanding alongside operational and design readiness
Together, these challenges demanded pursuit communications that matched the sophistication of the project itself.
Scope of Work
PRESWERX delivered a full pursuit communications package tailored to the unique clinical and operational complexity of the CSDC program. The team developed a proposal that organized the facility's 16 program elements, from three-pod inpatient residential wings to specialized spaces like the sensory rooms, calming rooms, dental suite, behavioral assessment rooms, and outdoor courtyard, into a clear, evaluator-ready narrative. Architectural renderings brought the therapeutic design language to life, visualizing the trauma-informed environment prior to construction. Animations illustrated spatial flow and adjacency relationships across the facility. A presentation was designed to carry this integrated story into the selection interview, and the client's team received coaching to deliver it with confidence and clinical authority.

PRESWERX approached this pursuit as a clinical communications challenge, not just a design showcase. The goal was to help evaluators understand not only what the facility would look like, but why every design decision served the needs of I/DD adults in crisis.

Presentation coaching focused on preparing the client's team to speak with clinical authority about the I/DD population's needs and the facility's response to those needs, not just to narrate slides
The result was a pursuit package that positioned the client as a knowledgeable, mission-driven partner for a project with significant public health implications.
