Project Overview
The State of Florida Department of Management Services pursued a $59 million new courthouse for the Second District Court of Appeals in St. Petersburg, Florida. Designed by DLR Group as architect of record with Wannemacher Jensen Architects as associate architect, the steel and architectural precast structure encompasses 15 judicial chambers across two levels, a ceremonial courtroom and lobby, three floors of office space for judicial personnel and Clerk of Court services, a 7,800-square-foot central energy plant, and controlled-access ground-floor parking. Targeted for delivery in fall 2025, the project represented one of the most significant civic construction undertakings in the Tampa Bay region. The client engaged PRESWERX to produce the architectural renderings and animations for the pursuit.
Client Challenges
Visualizing a state courthouse of this scale and civic significance before construction presented specific challenges that demanded precision and sophistication in every image produced:
Rendering a steel and architectural precast structure with the material accuracy and design fidelity that a state owner and reviewing architects would scrutinize closely.
Capturing the institutional gravity of a courthouse serving the Second District Court of Appeals, where the visual language of the building needed to convey permanence, authority, and civic dignity.
Communicating the building's complex internal program, from ceremonial courtroom spaces to restricted judicial chambers and clerk operations, through exterior and interior visuals that made the design intent legible.
Producing imagery at a quality level commensurate with a $59 million civic project competing for state procurement attention.

Scope of Work
PRESWERX produced high-fidelity architectural renderings and animated sequences for the New 2nd District Court of Appeals Courthouse pursuit. Working from the design documentation developed by DLR Group and Wannemacher Jensen Architects, the team produced exterior renderings that conveyed the building's civic presence and material character within its St. Petersburg context. Interior visuals brought the ceremonial courtroom, judicial chambers, and public lobby spaces to life, giving state reviewers and evaluators a clear sense of the design quality the construction team was committed to delivering. Animated sequences provided a dynamic view of the facility, moving through key spaces and reinforcing the cohesion of the overall design.
PRESWERX Approach
PRESWERX approached the visual package with the understanding that a state courthouse is not a generic civic building. It carries specific institutional expectations, and the imagery had to reflect them.
Calibrated exterior renderings to emphasize the architectural precast facade's material richness and the building's civic scale, ensuring the courthouse read as a lasting presence on its St. Petersburg site.
Developed interior renderings focused on the spaces that matter most to a judicial owner: the ceremonial courtroom, the judicial chamber floors, and the public-facing lobby where the building's purpose is most visible.
Sequenced the animated walkthrough to guide viewers logically through the building's program, from arrival and public circulation to the restricted judicial floors, reinforcing the design's clarity and functionality.
The result was a visual package that gave the state a compelling, accurate representation of a courthouse worthy of the Second District Court of Appeals.
