Project Overview
The Midtown Young Men's Christian Association project was a $12.5 million new construction and renovation initiative in Wilmington, North Carolina, commissioned by the YMCA. The project encompassed a broad range of community-facing spaces, including a lobby and lounge, child watch area, kids adventure room, school-age childcare classrooms, community kitchen, multipurpose room, teen and intergenerational center, group exercise studios, fitness center, indoor lap pool, outdoor covered Airnasium, locker rooms, administrative offices, and site improvements. The scope demanded a construction partner that understood the complexity of a multiprogram community facility. The client engaged PRESWERX to support the pursuit with a proposal, presentation, and presentation coaching.

Client Challenges
The client was pursuing a significant community facility project for one of the country's most recognized nonprofit organizations. The pursuit carried several distinct challenges:
Communicating a wide-ranging, multi-program scope to a nonprofit owner balancing community priorities with budget accountability.
Presenting a clear construction approach for a facility serving children, teens, and adults simultaneously, with spaces ranging from an indoor pool to childcare classrooms to a covered outdoor gym.
Differentiating the team in a competitive selection for a project with high community visibility and strong stakeholder expectations.
Preparing the team to deliver a polished, community-minded narrative across both a written proposal and a live interview.
The materials had to convey both construction competence and genuine alignment with the YMCA's community mission.

Scope of Work
PRESWERX developed the written proposal, built the selection presentation, and provided coaching to prepare the client's team for the YMCA interview. The proposal presented the client's qualifications and approach across the full breadth of the project's program, from aquatic facilities and fitness spaces to childcare environments and community gathering areas. The presentation organized the construction approach in a format suited to a nonprofit owner weighing both quality and community impact. Coaching prepared the team's speakers to connect the technical scope to the YMCA's mission and deliver with the confidence the selection required.

PRESWERX Approach
PRESWERX approached the engagement as both a technical and mission-driven challenge. The YMCA is a community institution, and the materials had to reflect that alongside the construction credentials.
Crafted the proposal narrative to speak to the full program mix, connecting each space type to the community it would serve.
Built the presentation to balance construction rigor with the community-centered values the YMCA looks for in a construction partner.
Coached presenters to deliver a story that was technically grounded and personally connected to the project's community purpose.
The result was a pursuit package that positioned the client as a partner in the YMCA's mission, not just a contractor building it.
Results Delivered
PRESWERX delivered a full pursuit package built to the expectations of a missiondriven nonprofit selection. Each deliverable was calibrated for an owner that evaluates construction partners on values as much as qualifications.
The proposal clearly articulated the client's approach across a complex, multiprogram facility serving children, teens, adults, and the broader community.
The presentation organized a wide-ranging scope into a coherent story that gave the YMCA panel confidence in the client's ability to execute.
Coaching prepared each presenter to speak to the project's community purpose as naturally as its construction requirements.
The client walked into the interview fully prepared, with materials that reflected both the technical demands of the project and the values of the organization they were building for.
