Project Overview

Lewis McCormick Field Improvement was a $25.5 million renovation of a professional minor league baseball facility in Asheville, North Carolina. The project drew from a 2016 concept design by EwingCole and Novus Architects, proposing targeted additions to transform an aging ballpark into a modern sports and entertainment destination. The design focused on revitalized fan amenities and reimagined public spaces capable of drawing new audiences from the South Slope neighborhood and the broader region. The client engaged PRESWERX to develop a full pursuit package, including renderings, animations, a written proposal, and presentation coaching to support the competitive selection process.

Client Challenges

Renovating a beloved regional landmark required more than a strong design: the client needed to communicate a complex, multi-element scope as one compelling story while standing out in a competitive selection process.

  • The renovation scope spanned significant structural upgrades and new fan amenity programming, making a cohesive visual and written narrative essential to convey the full scope and ambition of the investment.

  • Proposed design concepts required strong visualization to help evaluators understand the finished ballpark experience before construction began.

  • The client needed a live selection presentation that matched the quality and confidence of its written submission, requiring deliberate preparation and coaching.

Every element of the pursuit package had to tell one unified story, from the first page of the proposal to the final moment of the interview.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX delivered a full pursuit package supporting the Lewis McCormick Field Improvement competition. The team produced architectural renderings and animations that brought the proposed fan amenities and public space upgrades to life, giving evaluators a clear picture of the finished project. PRESWERX also developed the written proposal, organizing the client's qualifications, project approach, and design vision into a persuasive, cohesive narrative. To prepare the client for the live selection event, PRESWERX provided presentation coaching, helping the team refine its delivery, anticipate evaluator questions, and perform with confidence under pressure.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX treated the pursuit as an integrated storytelling challenge, aligning visual, written, and verbal content around a single narrative about the project's potential.

  • Renderings and animations were developed to highlight the amenity upgrades most likely to resonate with evaluators, grounding abstract design concepts in vivid, accessible imagery.

  • The written proposal was structured to reinforce the visual story, building a case for the client's qualifications that carried naturally into the interview format.

  • Presentation coaching sessions focused on message clarity and composure, ensuring the client's team walked into the selection room prepared and polished.

Every deliverable was designed to build evaluator confidence in the client's ability to realize the project's full vision.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete, cohesive pursuit package held to the standard of a high-profile public facility competition.

  • Renderings and animations gave evaluators a clear, compelling vision of the renovated ballpark, translating a complex design concept into imagery that was easy to understand and difficult to overlook.

  • The written proposal organized the client's qualifications and project approach into a narrative that stood on its own and set up the interview effectively.

  • Presentation coaching left the client's team prepared to deliver a confident, polished performance in front of the selection panel.

The client entered the selection process with a complete pursuit package and the preparation to make the most of every moment in the room.
