Project Overview
The Innovation Hub at Brown University was a $35 million renovation and expansion project in Providence, Rhode Island, commissioned by the Brown University School of Engineering. The project transformed Prince Lab into a modern innovation ecosystem featuring student workshops, design studios, fabrication hubs, and flexible teaching and co-working spaces. The scope included a roughly 4,000 SF mezzanine expansion alongside improvements to accessibility, safety, and usability. The hub was designed to serve makers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and artists across the campus community, supporting graduate programs including PRIME and MADE. The client engaged PRESWERX to support the pursuit with a written proposal.

Client Challenges
The client was pursuing a significant higher education renovation at one of the country's leading research universities. The pursuit carried several distinct challenges: • Communicating a complex, multi-function renovation program to a sophisticated university owner with high academic and design standards.
Articulating a clear vision for how the transformed facility would serve a wide range of disciplines, from engineering and fabrication to entrepreneurship and the arts.
Differentiating the construction team in a competitive pursuit for a project with deep strategic significance to the university.
Presenting a phased scope that combined renovation of existing space and new square footage in a coherent, compelling narrative.
Together, these demands called for a proposal that could convey both technical competency and genuine alignment with the university's vision.

Scope of Work
PRESWERX developed the written proposal for the Innovation Hub at Brown University pursuit. The proposal presented the client's qualifications and approach in a format tailored to the expectations of a leading research university. It addressed the project's interdisciplinary goals directly, framing the client's capabilities around the specific program needs: flexible fabrication and workshop spaces, graduate program support, mezzanine expansion, and the transformation of Prince Lab into a modern innovation ecosystem. Every section was written to demonstrate a construction partner that understood both the technical scope and the broader academic mission behind the project.

PRESWERX Approach
PRESWERX approached the proposal as a strategic narrative challenge. The technical qualifications had to be woven together with a clear understanding of what Brown University was trying to achieve academically.
Structured the proposal to mirror the university's stated project goals, ensuring each section spoke directly to the owner's priorities.
Framed the client's experience and approach around the specific program elements: fabrication, flexible collaboration, graduate program support, and community access.
Crafted language that positioned the client as a partner invested in the university's mission, not just a contractor managing a scope.
The result was a proposal built to resonate with a university owner that cared as much about vision as execution.
Results Delivered
PRESWERX delivered a polished, strategically aligned proposal that gave the client a strong foundation for the Brown University selection process. The deliverable was built to hold up under close review by a sophisticated academic owner.
The proposal narrative directly addressed the university's interdisciplinary goals, making a clear case for the client's fit with the project's academic mission.
Each section was structured to answer the owner's stated priorities clearly and without ambiguity.
The writing positioned the client as a construction partner that understood the innovation ecosystem Brown was working to build.
The client went into the selection with a proposal that was well-organized, ownerfocused, and ready for close scrutiny.
