Project Overview

Washington University in St. Louis sought to establish a dedicated new home for its Healthy Excellence program, designed to serve as a highly visible, central hub for campus wellness. The facility called for thoughtful site integration, a strong design context, and a suite of interrelated spaces with welcoming, dynamic, and flexible characteristics. The project required a pursuit approach that could communicate both the complexity of the program and the quality of the team positioned to deliver it. PRESWERX was engaged to develop the pursuit proposal, create a compelling presentation, and provide coaching to prepare the client's team for the competitive selection process.

Client Challenges

The client needed to translate a complex, vision-driven university facility into a pursuit narrative that would resonate with a discerning owner. The challenge was not simply describing scope; it was telling a story. Key challenges included:

  • Communicating the full scope and vision of a campus wellness hub in a way that was both accessible and compelling to the selection committee.

  • Differentiating the team in a competitive bid for a high-profile, design-forward university project.

  • Preparing the client's presenters to deliver a confident, well-rehearsed live presentation under selection pressure.

  • Aligning all pursuit materials with the owner's emphasis on design quality, flexibility, and community integration.

Together, these demands required a pursuit strategy that was thorough, narrative-driven, and built for performance under scrutiny.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed a full pursuit package for the new Healthy Excellence building at Washington University in St. Louis. The team produced a proposal that introduced the client's qualifications and articulated a clear understanding of the project's design vision and campus context. PRESWERX then developed a presentation that translated the building's programmatic goals into a structured, visually organized story the selection committee could follow from start to finish. To ensure the client's team was fully prepared for the live selection event, PRESWERX provided hands-on presentation coaching, working directly with the presenters to sharpen messaging, build confidence, and rehearse delivery.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX approached this pursuit as a narrative challenge, connecting the owner's vision for a campus wellness hub to the client's specific qualifications and delivery approach. The team focused on clarity and confidence at every stage.

  • The proposal was structured around the owner's stated goals, prioritizing site sensitivity, design flexibility, and community integration over a generic qualifications summary.

  • The presentation was built to guide the selection committee through the project's vision in a logical sequence, making a complex program easy to understand and compelling to experience.

  • Presentation coaching sessions focused on consistent messaging, natural delivery, and composure under the pressure of a live competitive selection.

The result was a complete pursuit package that positioned the client as thoroughly prepared and deeply aligned with the owner's expectations.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a polished, complete pursuit package held to the high standard expected for a competitive university selection. Each piece was built to earn attention and communicate the client's readiness.

  • The proposal gave the selection committee a clear picture of the client's qualifications and a genuine understanding of the project's campus context and design vision.

  • The presentation organized the team's story into a sequence that was straightforward to follow and compelling to experience, reducing cognitive load on the committee during a high-stakes review.

  • Coaching sessions left the client's presenters ready to perform with confidence, consistency, and precision when it mattered most.

The client entered the selection process with materials and a team that reflected the full quality of their pursuit.
