Project Overview

Leon County Schools undertook a $44 million renovation of Griffin Middle School in Tallahassee's Frenchtown neighborhood, one of the most significant capital investments in the district's history for a Title 1 school. The project encompassed a new cafeteria, a new gymnasium, a two-story classroom building, and comprehensive technology upgrades including campus-wide Wi-Fi, replacing facilities that had not seen major updates since the 1960s. The client pursued the construction manager at-risk contract for this phased, multi-year project and engaged PRESWERX to develop the pursuit proposal and presentation materials, and to prepare the team for the selection interview.

Client Challenges

Winning a high-profile contract for a long-underserved school required more than a strong construction resume: the pursuit team needed to connect technical capabilities to a deeply community-driven narrative. Key challenges included:

  • Framing a complex, phased construction program as a single coherent story for a school board audience

  • Communicating how the team's experience would minimize disruption to students during an active academic calendar

  • Differentiating through genuine community commitment, not just qualifications on paper

  • Preparing the team to speak confidently and credibly in a live interview setting

Each challenge demanded a coordinated strategy that aligned content, visuals, and delivery.

Scope of Work

PRESWERX developed a complete pursuit package for the client's bid on the Griffin Middle School construction manager at-risk contract. The team produced a tailored written proposal that organized the full scope of the multi-phase renovation into a cohesive narrative, connecting the client's qualifications directly to the needs of Leon County Schools and the Frenchtown community. PRESWERX also created a custom presentation deck built around the project's phased construction sequence and community impact goals. The engagement concluded with structured presentation coaching sessions, preparing the client's team to deliver a sharp, confident performance in the live selection interview.

PRESWERX Approach

PRESWERX approached the pursuit as a story problem, not a qualifications exercise. Every deliverable was built around the project's meaning to the Frenchtown community:

  • Structured the proposal around the phased construction program, using clear sequencing to demonstrate the client's understanding of project complexity

  • Built the presentation deck to address school board priorities directly: student experience, community investment, and construction-phase scheduling

  • Coached the team through interview simulations focused on confident delivery and anticipated questions

That alignment between content and preparation gave the client a clear, cohesive message from the proposal through the final interview.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a fully integrated pursuit package calibrated to a school board audience with high community stakes. Each deliverable built toward a presentation-ready team:

  • The written proposal translated a complex, multi-phase scope into a narrative connecting the client's experience to the school's community history

  • The custom presentation deck gave the team a clear visual story aligned to Leon County Schools' stated priorities

  • Presentation coaching sessions sharpened delivery and prepared the team for anticipated interview questions

The client entered the selection presentation with a polished deck, a rehearsed team, and a story worth telling.
