Project Overview
The Florida Department of Transportation District 5 I-95/SR-40 Interchange project addressed safety and capacity deficiencies at a critical transportation node in Ormond Beach, Florida. Exit 273 on I-95 had operated essentially unchanged since the 1960s, creating peak-hour congestion, safety hazards, and mobility challenges along a major freight corridor and emergency evacuation route. The $215.4 million improvement program encompassed replacing outdated loop ramps with diamond ramps, widening US 1 from four to six lanes, adding dual shared-use pedestrian paths, and improving truck turning movements. The client engaged PRESWERX to develop renderings and animations in support of this complex transportation project.

Client Challenges
Communicating a major highway redesign required translating complex engineering into visuals a broad audience could grasp:
Conveying the scale and impact of a $215.4 million interchange overhaul to nontechnical stakeholders and decision-makers.
Illustrating before-and-after conditions to make the safety and capacity improvements tangible and easy to understand.
Differentiating the team's approach in a competitive pursuit with visuals that went beyond standard engineering drawings.
Showing how ramp replacements, lane widenings, and pedestrian path integrations worked together as a single, cohesive solution.
Each challenge pointed to the same need: visuals that turned engineering complexity into a clear, persuasive case for the project.

Scope of Work
PRESWERX produced a suite of renderings and animations tailored to the complexity of the I-95/SR-40 interchange redesign. The renderings depicted key improvement elements, including the transition from loop ramps to diamond ramps, the widening of US 1, and the integration of shared-use pedestrian paths, with a level of detail that engineering drawings alone could not convey. Custom animations brought the project to life in motion, illustrating traffic flow improvements and the relationship between proposed changes and existing conditions. Together, these deliverables gave the client's team a powerful visual toolkit for communicating the project's value and scope.

PRESWERX Approach
PRESWERX focused every deliverable on turning engineering complexity into visual clarity:
Created renderings that depicted key design elements, including ramp configurations, lane additions, and pedestrian infrastructure, in accurate, contextrich detail.
Developed animations that communicated traffic flow improvements and project phasing in a format that worked for non-technical audiences.
Aligned all visuals to the client's pursuit narrative, ensuring the imagery reinforced the engineering story being told.
The result was a cohesive visual package built to support a high-stakes transportation pursuit.
Results Delivered
PRESWERX delivered a visual package calibrated to the scale and complexity of a $215.4 million public infrastructure project:
Renderings gave stakeholders a clear, accurate picture of the proposed improvements, from ramp redesigns to lane widenings and pedestrian paths.
Animations translated traffic flow improvements and project phasing into a format that resonated with non-technical decision-makers.
The combined deliverables gave the client's team a polished, persuasive suite of visuals ready for pursuit presentation.
The client entered the selection with the tools to present a complex engineering solution as a clear, compelling story.
