Project Overview

The Duplin County Design Build Airport Hangar was a $4,000,000 design-build project for Duplin County Airport in Kenansville, North Carolina. The project encompassed the construction of a new spec hangar and the rehabilitation of several existing hangars, with the scope sized to fully expend available funding. The airport sought a collaborative partnering relationship with the selected Design-Builder, with Michael Baker International serving as owner's representative. The goal was to deliver facilities of exceptional quality in the most cost-effective and timely manner. The client engaged PRESWERX to produce the proposal, renderings, and animations.

Client Challenges

The client was pursuing a design-build hangar project for a small county airport where partnering approach and demonstrated value were as important as technical qualifications:

  • Communicating the team's ability to deliver new hangar construction and existing hangar rehabilitation under a design-build model within a fixed $4,000,000 budget.

  • Demonstrating a genuine collaborative approach aligned with the airport's explicit goal of a true partnering relationship with the selected Design-Builder.

  • Visualizing the proposed hangar improvements at a quality level appropriate for a public-sector airport owner evaluating design-build teams.

Together, these challenges required a submission that balanced technical credibility with a clear commitment to the owner's partnering philosophy.

The result was a submission that presented the team as technically capable and genuinely aligned with the owner's collaborative intent.

Results Delivered

PRESWERX delivered a complete pursuit package built for a public-sector design-build airport selection where partnering approach and visual quality both carried weight.

  • The proposal framed the team's qualifications and design-build approach around the airport's goals of exceptional quality, cost-effective delivery, and a genuine partnering relationship.

  • Renderings gave the airport owner a concrete visual understanding of the proposed new hangar and rehabilitated facilities before any design was finalized.
